Job Title: Patient Service Representative

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Greeting patients entering the physician practice.
  2. Answering phones, making and confirming appointments and rescheduling when necessary.
  3. Check in patients , collect co-pays and verify insurances
  4. Assist in checking out patients and assist with referral processing and scheduling process.
  5. Collect co-pays and posts charges.
  6. Distribute information to patients regarding office policies, procedures and information about the practice.
  7. Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal.
  8. Additional responsibilities as needed.
  9. Adhere to HIPPA Compliance Pland and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.


Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion medical office assistant program preferred.

Certification: Prefer healthcare management/administration certification.

Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical office setting.

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of third party payers regulations and requirements.
  2. Knowledge of insurance verification process.
  3. Understanding of ducumentation required for physician appointments.
  4. Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems.
  5. Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 CPT codes.
  6. Knowledge of  Athena software and EMR are a plus.
  7. Bilingual in Spanish is plus.
