ACCOUNTING MANAGER

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting for a service business. This position is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities.

 

The Accounting Manager is also expected to make recommendations to the CEO/President for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager supervises one staff accountant. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES • Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure • Prepare an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information. • Initiate budget and forecasting activities • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy • Interface with other departments to verify transaction report data and issues • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions • Respond to inquiries from the CEO/President regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like; job costing and intrinsic tracking and reporting as requested.

 

• Work with the retained CPA firm to ensure accurate and timely year end financials.

• Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

• Over A/R, A/P, Payroll, and all other departments as needed.

• All additional task as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with emphasis in Accounting required • 3-5 years prior supervisory experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas with company revenue over $10M. Familiarity with PO Process is a must. • Must be PC proficient and experience with QuickBooks accounting system. • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required. • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
